DAY TRIPS
1823 Historic Rose Hill Inn

"My only vacation regret was that Rose Hill was the last stop and not the first.  We could have spent our whole week right here!  I didn't realize everything was so close."                     a California traveler

Here are some day trip ideas (trips of less than an hour are under the area information page) and approximate driving times:

Natural Bridge State Park -   1 1/4 hours

Natural Bridge State Park is home to the great natural sandstone arch that stands like a sentinel over this mountain hideaway. Located in the midst of the Daniel Boone National Forest, near the Red River Gorge Geological Area, the arch spans 78 feet in length and 65 feet in height. There are nice hiking trails and even a limestone small cave you enter with a flashlight.

There is a restaurant for lunch there, plus some good photo opportunities.  The ten hiking trails range from one-half mile to seven-and-one-half miles. Trail maps are available at the Hemlock Lodge. The Nature Center, located on the ground floor of the Activities Center, houses exhibits about the park
