Shaker Village is picturesque and enjoyable. The Shakers were a religious group that supported themselves by making the famous "shaker" furniture, growing crops, and other endeavors. The village is restored and informative. The dining hall serves excellent food, the docents give good demonstrations of the Shaker way of life, and there is even a riverboat ride.

Bluegrass roads are not wide, but there are lots of "backroads" that are gorgeous and not well-traveled -- great for motor biking and cycling. View horse farms, the Kentucky river, ghost distilleries, woodsy areas, and have a wonderful day. We'll help you plan a route. We have plenty of off-street parking and a safe neighborhood for motor bikers to park their "cars".

Frankfort has the State Capitol, the KY History Museum, the adorable Rebecca Ruth Candy Factory (where they make and sell bourbon balls), and the Buffalo Trace Distillery tour. With its historic homes hillsides, and river, it is a very scenic city. |

Canoe Kentucky offers a trip down the Elkhorn Creek during the summer that is lots of fun. They are located in the Frankfort area. |
| Horseback riding is always a favorite for guests. The KY Horse Park has horses to ride. For a real trail ride, we suggest Whispering Woods (near Georgetown) or for the experienced rider who doesn't want a guide, Big Red Stables, near Harrodsburg. Reservations are needed at either stable. |

There's lots more -- a visit to the Red Mile Harness Race Track in Lexington, Old Fort Harrod, Fort Boonesborough, Whitehall, take the Valley View Ferry across the Kentucky River, and plenty of other attractions to see within about half an hour of Rose Hill Inn.
